"Dino" (Uses Previcox)

Hi Mel,

I, "by accident", came across your K911 page and the article about Previcox, when I did some research.

Our German Shepherd "Dino" (6 y.o.) had a stroke (that's what the emergency vet said) about 2 years ago. Young humans do have strokes and so do young dogs.....unfortunately : (

He is also deaf since. Dino had a tough time to recover after the stroke, was disorientated, could not keep the balance, was falling over, head tilted....... horrible to watch. However, he made it through, but has some damage to his nerve system and skeleton, his spine has the shape of an arch and he can't jump anymore. We walk him every day (on a leash due to his deafness) and he seems to enjoy life.

For 2 years now Dino is taking Previcox once a week and thanks to the drug he is a happy dog. Not sure what the long term effects will be, but so far I can not give you any negative comment about the drug.

At least Dino can have a life without too much pain (it gets worse towards the end of each week, but we don't want to increase the doses until we really have to)and 2 years after the stroke he is still with us.

Thought I share my experience to give a bit of balance to all the negative stories. I am not saying that the drug is without risk or side effects, but in Dino's case, we are glad that the vet prescribed it.

Cheers from Melbourne,

Frank
