Dear Mel:

I have been reading with horror and sadness what the drug, Previcox can do... At the end of August, our dog, a Chinese Crested Powder Puff had hurt his hind leg. On September 10, the vet took an X-Ray, found nothing, but prescribed Previcox. She asked if I had a "problem with the drug." I was not familiar with it. My elderly Westie, in all of his almost 17 years, had never had that drug.

After the drug, our Puff seemed normal, within two days, later, he seemed worse. He weighed 14 lbs; he was prescribed 57 mg. per day. I was given 14 pills; "save some for the weekend, " the vet urged. I slowly took our Puff off the pills, when lethargy and anorexia replaced his personality. (Why give the dog a drug two times his body weight?) Thank God, I did not give him all the pills.

Four visits (Emergency Room, neurologist, and  dog chiropractor) later to a vet hospital, (last night, Emergency Room visit, October 25, 105.0 F with fever) I am giving my Puff, Carafate and amoxicillion. Water/and Gatorade is still through a medicine dropper, with baby food and oatmeal, fed by my finger. I too, am a case number now, filed a complaint with the FDA, as well...Thank you for your site. Am praying, for our Puff. I hope I did not find your site, too late.

Sincerely, Alicia
