Previcox Emails

Hello Mel,

My name is Chelise and I have a 4 year old male German Shepherd.  He recently recovered from his knee surgery 5 months ago only to tear the other knee two weeks ago.  

I had a left over prescription bottle of Previcox that was given to us by our PCP vet a year ago.  I decided to give a half dose to Rudi until we could get back in to see the surgeon.  It was only a week away.  Rudi is still alive and well but I will say that I stopped his dose. 

He had been back on the NSAID for about one week when I noticed a sudden change one morning.  It all happened so fast but it scared me to death.  He was disoriented, stood but was having a hard time balancing his weight, his eyes had involuntary movement and his head was swaying like he was drunk.  It passed after about 60 seconds but I'm sure he must have had a type of mini stroke. 

I cannot find anywhere online whether or not Previcox can cause a stroke.  You seem to be very knowledgeable. Is it possible this drug could be the culprit?  It's been an isolated incident and I'm keeping a close eye on him but it's very strange since it's never happened before.

I'm interested in your thoughts on this.  If you find something related to strokes with Previcox please let me know.
