I didn't know where to put my Previcox nightmare, but I found this
and I just want to say thank you for this site. Last night our 1 yr
old Lab/Great Dane mix was given a 57mg Previcox.
Two hours later she had a grand mal
(Tonic-clonic) seizure.
It was the worst seizure I have ever seen a dog or person ever have ( I teach Special Ed, see it on a daily basis). It lasted about 1 minute but was extremely violent. When she came to, she bit my boyfriend and tried to attack me. She calmed down after 5 min. I am almost positive it was the Previcox My boyfriend is a Vet Tech at our local vet clinic, and he called and talked to a person at Merial and they told him that this seizure was not a side effect and we were crazy for thinking that. He was given a case number and that was it! I am furious! We had heard of the other side effects, but I just want people out there to also watch for seizuring in their dogs while being on this drug. We had our dog checked over by our vet and she is not epileptic or diabetic. The only thing the vet thinks caused it is this damn drug. I just wanted to share my experience with you.
