Previcox Emails
"Captain" Sent: Monday, November 6, 2008 6:50 PM
Hi Mel,
We too had a healthy dog,
Captain that had a lump removed from his paw (a swollen sweat
gland). The vet did a complete blood work
up before removing the lump, and he was in good health.
The vet subsequently discovered arthritis in the shoulder as he
was still limping after the lump removal. We first tried
Rimadyl, but the vet was convinced that he was still in pain
because he was still limping (although we thought it was stiff
muscles from not using his shoulder for a while). The vet then
prescribed Previcox. Captain later died, after having
haemorrhage in his eye and an "overwhelming infection" (took a
amazingly quick 2 months for him to be totally decimated by
these drugs).
After he passed away, we
had an autopsy performed and the vet
discovered ulceration of the stomach and small intestine, which
led to haemorrhage in the lungs and septic sores forming in the
lungs. The vet said it could not be the Previcox alone,
but the Rimadyl too. He was perfectly happy and healthy until
the vets prescribed all the drugs.
My point is this:
If at all possible avoid drugs
for your dogs and yourself. As an
exception, these drugs may make a difference, but they are
extremely dangerous when administered regularly over a long
time. Our dog was tested as perfectly
healthy before they prescribed all the drugs and still
ended up with problems. These drugs are highly dangerous and
very toxic. Rather try not to use them at all!
I hope this helps other dog owners to avoid these drugs for
their dogs.
Kind Regards
Christine F.
