Previcox Emails
"Sally" Sent: Monday, May 11, 2009 8:52 PM
I just found out this morning that my sweet Sally, (a 15lb Jack Russell) died. She was only four years old with no prior medical problems except skin allergies. I rescued her off the streets and she was the best dog ever, very loving, smart and very good with kids.
Sally was diagnosed with a possible sprain in her back. The vet felt it was due to her chasing squirrels a lot and jumping up and down all the time, she was so active.
Her CBC was normal so the vet started her on Previcox (57mg) on Wednesday. Today, after looking into the drug, she should have been on approximately 38mg per day, max.
After the first dose, the next day (Thurs), she seemed to feel better. On Friday she was lying around again and went downhill fast starting Saturday evening. (Saturday I didn't give her a pill). Sunday morning she wouldn't get out of her bed and by Sunday evening she was dead. She was only given 3 tablets.
She will be so missed. My husband and I have cried all day. I will definitely be calling Merial tomorrow and reporting it. I will also be contacting our state licensing board.
