About Aromatherapy & Essential Oils
In a nutshell, aromatherapy is the use of therapeutic essential oils. It is part of a larger field called Phytotherapy (plant therapy). Essential oils are the volatile essences of steam distilled from medicinal plants. They are extremely concentrated and depending on the plant, it may take one ton or more of plant matter to yield just 32 ounces of essential oil! This explains the cost of making products using these wonderful oils. Essential oils for medicinal purposes, dates back to ancient Egypt, China, Greece and Rome. They were brought into Europe in the tenth century and came into general use as a medical practice in the sixteenth century. Although beneficial, some may decide to use these oils with no knowledge of the potential dangers. Please, please leave the formulating to professionals who know and understand the properties as well as the interactions of each oil being used. Do not use you pet as a test subject! Oils used improperly can cause lasting harm or even death to your beloved pet. Here are some tips to seriously consider: Never use undiluted essential oils on any animal. Dogs have 200 million scent receptors in their nasal folds, we have 50 million. Never use undiluted oils on dogs! Prolonged contact of undiluted oils can easily burn an animals skin since the dosage of these oils is significantly higher than that used for healing purposes. K911 essential oils & aromatherapy products are mixed with carrier oils or distilled water as this is what is required to ensure your pet's safety. Never use essential oils on cats. A cat's system is very different from that of a dog or human. The cumulative effect of essential oils on a cat's liver may in time result in irreparable damage or as is sometimes the case, death. Never use essential oils on puppies less than 10 weeks old. A puppy's skin is too sensitive and their systems too immature to handle essential oils, no matter how well diluted. Our K911 essential oil products are preserved with grapefruit seed extract (GSE) for a shelf life of up to one year. To ensure freshness, we produce in small batches of four ounce bottles.
